Coveris Rigid Polska transacted another successful business with the Polish company Koral due to its new DuoSmart® packaging solution. Koral, one of the leading regional ice cream makers is using this packagingsolution to offer convenient consumption because of consumer-friendly packaging. Products will be sold through leading retailers in Poland.
Coveris Rigid Polska recently developed a new packaging solution for Koral, a Polish family-owned and leading regional ice cream company. The DuoSmart packaging solution combines the functionality of polymers with the attractive appearance of paper, giving numerous branding possibilities to the brand owner. The concept is perfectly suitable for the highly competitive FMCG market which requires robust packaging with superb decoration. Coveris thereby addresses the market’s demand for impulse and on-the-go products by providing capable, eye-catching and high-performance packaging.
The new DuoSmart PP cup of 75 mm diameter is wrapped in a high-quality printed paper banderole and closed with a dome lid, containing a snapped spoon, the so-called spoon-in-lid solution. The packaging concept has been applied to two new premium product lines “Bracia Koral – Lody jak dawniej” (“Koral Brothers – ice cream as it once was”) and “Cocktail Ice Cream Gold”. The whole production of the DuoSmart cups takes place in Siemianowice Śl., Poland.
The product is the result of a successful development process of a smart packaging solution for Koral’s new impulse lines. Within an exceptionally short timeframe of six weeks, Coveris developed a new PP 200 ml cup and prepared a high-quality printed cardboard.
To emphasize Koral’s long tradition of ice cream making and upper market position, matt and glossy finishes were applied to the paper segments and the dome lid. This unique development ensures convenient and safe on-the-go consumption at any time.
The new Koral ice cream products are mainly sold to leading retailers in Poland, such as Auchan and Carrefour. “This project shows the positive prospects for the impulse ice cream segment in Poland,” says Jacek Janocha, Key Account Manager Coveris Rigid Polska. The market forecast of the Polish impulse ice cream segment remains positive. Euromonitor, a global market intelligence firm, forecasts that the market will record 3% year-on-year growth between 2015 and 2019.
