Increased customer demand for environmental accreditation.

Nowadays, Coveris’ existing and prospective customers are not only expecting BRC accreditation as a minimum requirement, but are frequently asking for environmental accreditation, such as ISO 14001. Coveris Mansfield is now able to emphatically answer YES!

ISO 14001, which is an internationally recognised standard, exists to address the balance between maintaining profitability whilst reducing environmental impact.

Ian Palmer, Director of Quality, says: “The whole team has worked hard to achieve this environmental accreditation. From the day we commenced the program, all of our staff have been eagerly involved” and adds: “The realisation of making a difference to the environment was enough to drive the challenge along. Now we can proudly say that we are ISO 14001 certified, which is a fantastic achievement by everyone involved.”

Achieved benefits of ISO 14001 certification

The team at Coveris Mansfield worked through the accreditation process step by step and used best practices. The final achievements are:

  • Improved waste segregation and recycling;
  • Aggressively challenged and reduced scrap levels;
  • Change to new T5 energy efficient lamp fittings in all the production & warehouse areas;
  • Conduction of a thorough air leak detection / repair program for engineers.
