YOUR TASKS

  • To drive the technical development of the business with a focus on project execution and creative problem solving. The role will lead new product development (NPD) projects as well as handling technical projects to improve production processes. In addition to leading projects, the candidate will also be required to carry out the design and development activities, working closely with the sales team and customers.
  • Working with the operational teams, provide technical solutions to production and quality processes for both new and current products.
  • Meeting with key customers packaging teams to understand their requirements.
  • Having a creative approach to problem solving using design solutions.
  • Conceptual rendering and product development to fulfil customer briefs.
  • Good understanding of polymer behavior during molding processes and in use.
  • Maintain good communication throughout projects with R&D, Quality, Procurement and Production teams within the NPD stage-gate process.
  • Support customer trials where new products are being tested and qualified.
  • Carry out other technical project related duties as required by the Design & Development Manager.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Strong technical knowledge in plastic processing, preferably Injection Molding or Compression molding.
  • IML is advantageous.
  • Experience with injection mold tool design / ordering / commissioning.
  • Good knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD drawing and modelling disciplines.
  • Strong project management experience with co-ordination with suppliers, colleagues, and customers.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a polymer-based R&D/Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to manage own workload and to deliver key projects against strategic deadlines.
  • Logical approach to solving problems and presenting detailed data to all levels of the business.
  • Excellent team-working skills across multiple sites and cross-functions.
  • Commercial experience with product costings advantageous.
